About

A woman with shoulder-length dark brown hair, smiling, wearing a light gray t-shirt and a beige button-up shirt, sitting indoors against a plain beige wall.

I am a postpartum doula and mother of two with first hand experience of the beauty and complexity that is pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Having had a vastly different birth and fourth trimester second time around, I truly believe that planning well, becoming informed and having the right supports in place made the world of difference. I am passionate about women receiving the necessary care they need during the first forty days after birth and beyond. My own experiences of becoming and being a mother in today’s society have fuelled my passion to provide support, hold space and create a community of care for new and seasoned mothers.

With a background in youth work, teaching and community planning, I have learnt how to walk alongside someone, to truly listen and hold compassion during times of vulnerability. Further practice in mindfulness and meditation have taught me to embody self reflection and stillness.

Alongside practical support and care, I love to feed families with meals that are made with love, infused with culture and loaded with nourishment.

What is a doula?

Imagine the dreamiest care possible and that my friend is what a postpartum doula is there to create during those tender days and weeks post birth. Postpartum care allows a mother to focus on what truly matters; their emotional, physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. The fourth trimester is a sacred time for the mother to rest, heal, bond with their newborn and establish breastfeeding (if intended). You may have a fabulous village who will wrap you up in love and much deserved care, or it may be that your village is not present (as many of us experience in this modern day), a doula is there to listen, off gentle guidance and extra pair of hands to help you feel held and supported.

Think of your doula as someone who can:

  • listen deeply and hold space for you to feel seen and heard

  • offer evidence based information and assist with supported referrals where needed

  • provide practical help with your baby or older children

  • support feeding and settling

  • create moments of care and calm for you rest (a bath, foot / shoulder rub or simply time to breathe

  • prepare nourishing food to help your body heal and replenish

  • nourishing your healing body with food that is delicious, healing and nourishing.

  • tidy and organise your space so you can rest

Finding the right doula is a deeply personal choice. Trust you intuition. I invite you to book a complimentary exploration call to consider whether I am the doula for you.

“Imren is a beautiful soul who embodies the work she does as a postpartum doula and I feel so grateful to have been held by her after the birth of my second child. She is warm, caring, flexible - three critical things needed during such a big time of transition.”
