Postpartum support

Postpartum care is designed to nurture a person after birth, acknowledging the physical, emotional and spiritual shifts that unfold. As a doula, I provide you with an opportunity to receive support whilst finding your feet with a newborn and new family dynamic.

As the saying goes ‘postpartum is forever’. Each season of motherhood brings its own learnings and challenges and along with the varying transitions of life, sometimes the care of a doula is much needed to help guide and support us through. Extended care is available at any point of your mothering journey, whether it be in the first year of your babies life or well into the toddler years and beyond.

To honour a mother throughout the fourth trimester and beyond, postpartum sessions can include:

  • emotional support & non-judgemental listening

  • birth debrief

  • breastfeeding guidance

  • focus on rest and nurturing practices

  • setting up a meal train for family and friends

  • taking care of your newborn and older children

  • information based on leading evidence

  • supported referrals to specialist health professionals

  • tidying and basic household duties

  • preparing and cooking meals or snacks

  • support attending appointments & running errands

“From the moment Imren walked through the door, her calm and grounded nature put me at ease. Not only did she arrive with some delicious treats, but more importantly, she arrived with a listening ear. At a time when I was focussed on some clinical concerns, Imren reminded us of the joy and beauty of late pregnancy and new parenthood. Her postpartum planning notes led to some excellent discussions, and her follow up afterwards has left us feeling more prepared and excited for the weeks and months ahead”
